Dr Ma Jun, Co-Chair of the GIP steering committee and Chairman of CASI, participated in the Sixth Plenary Meeting on Green Investment Principles (GIP) for the Belt and Road in Hong Kong

On Oct 24, 2024, Dr Ma Jun, Co-Chair of the GIP steering committee and Chairman of CASI, participated in the Sixth Plenary Meeting on Green Investment Principles (GIP) for the Belt and Road in Hong Kong.

This event brought together over 100 representatives of GIP members in person and virtually, who reviewed the progress made by GIP working groups and regional chapters over the past year and presented their work plans for next year. Dr Ma congratulated GIP members on making significant progress in implementing green principles, climate risk analysis, and product innovation, and shed light on crucial points demanding further attention of GIP members. These points were transition finance, ISSB adoption, nature financing, and capacity building.

Dr Ma highlighted the growing need for capacity building. Apart from working internally with GIP members, he emphasized leveraging its capabilities and networks to inspire broader market players in our regions. The Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) initiative, launched last year, embodies this vision. CASI collaborates with various members and partners, including GIP, to strengthen capacities in emerging markets, fostering a structured approach to empower members and advance the ecosystem. Dr Ma suggested that CASI could co-host future events with GIP. Additionally, GIP members will be invited to trial CASI's online learning courses once they launch in mid-November during COP29.
