Macau Launches Voluntary Carbon Market | Dr. Ma Jun Meets Macau Chief Executive

On October 30, Dr. Ma Jun, Chairman of Institute of Finance and Sustainability (IFS) and Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) attended the Opening Ceremony of the Macau International Carbon Emission Exchange. Hosted in Macau, this new voluntary carbon market (VCM) aims to become an international trading platform for high-quality carbon credits and provide solutions for cross-border transactions of green assets. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of Macau SAR, senior local officials, and leading international experts in green finance and carbon markets.

 

In the meeting with Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, Dr. Ma Jun congratulated Macau on launching the Carbon Exchange. He suggested that the Macau Carbon Exchange could consider aligning its standards with the Core Carbon Principles developed by the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Markets (ICVCM) and playing a key role in facilitating cross-border transactions in Asia.
