Announcement – HKGFA-CASI Certificate in Sustainable Finance (Subsidy-Eligible Programme)

Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) and the Capacity-building Alliance of Sustainable Investment (CASI) are pleased to announce the launch of the HKGFA–CASI Certificate in Sustainable Finance, a self-paced, professional-level online programme designed to offer comprehensive and practical training in sustainable finance, with a particular focus on Asia. Delivered via the CASI Academy, the programme includes six online courses, live webinar(s) hosted by HKGFA featuring industry experts, and in-person networking opportunities to support both technical learning and professional development.

Registration for the programme will officially open on 1 May 2026. Interested learners who wish to receive updates and registration details are invited to submit their contact information via the form available at https://hkgreenfinance.glueup.com/campaign/survey/69b7c19ee4b083dc840c6d82. The HKGFA Secretariat will provide follow-up information in due course.

This initiative is recognised as one of the Eligible Programmes under the Pilot Green and Sustainable Finance Capacity Building Support Scheme (Programme Identification Code: GTP-686255). Upon successful completion of an Eligible Programme, eligible applicants may apply for a subsidy of up to 80% of the relevant fees, while full-time student applicants may apply for up to 100% of the relevant fees, subject to a ceiling of HKD 10,000, through the Scheme’s application portal within three months of programme completion.

Professional recognition is available for SFC-licensed persons, who may claim CPT hours in accordance with relevant membership and regulatory guidelines, subject to applicable requirements, in support of their ongoing professional competence obligations.

The programme offers significant benefits for learners. As an eligible programme under the government subsidy scheme, it can substantially reduce the effective cost of study for both practitioners and full-time students, increasing access to high-quality sustainable finance training. Participants will have opportunities for in-person networking and, upon successful completion, will automatically join the HKGFA alumni network, gaining exclusive access to ongoing training and professional connections within the sustainable finance community. The curriculum is practical and Asia-focused, covering key topics such as the green and sustainable finance taxonomy, sustainability disclosure, green and sustainable finance products, transition finance, climate risk assessment and management, and carbon markets. These modules are complemented by exclusive HKGFA webinar(s) led by industry experts, offering participants direct insights into current market developments and emerging trends.

The certificate programme has been carefully designed to equip learners with advanced, application-oriented knowledge in sustainable finance, with a particular emphasis on transition finance and transition planning as emerging mechanisms to address climate-related and greenwashing risks. It brings together interdisciplinary perspectives, regulatory updates, and real-world case studies to help participants apply relevant knowledge directly in their professional roles.

The programme structure comprises an introduction and course overview, six mandatory courses (Green and Sustainable Finance Taxonomy, Sustainability Disclosure, Green and Sustainable Finance Products, Transition Finance, Climate Risk Assessment and Management, and Carbon Markets), exclusive HKGFA webinar(s) with industry experts, a final online proctored assessment, and optional in-person networking opportunities. The total learning content amounts to approximately 30 hours, with a recommended total study time of around 60 hours including pre-readings, online learning, webinar(s), assessment, and networking sessions. Learners will have six months from registration to complete all course components and sit for the final assessment. Participants who complete all mandatory content and achieve a minimum score of 75% in the assessment will receive a digital certificate of completion.
