CASI Forum in HKGW Covered by Sing Tao Daily

As featured in a recent Sing Tao Daily coverage, CASI co-hosted the CASI Sustainability Forum in Hong Kong Green Week last month, themed “Building Capacity for a Transition Finance Ecosystem in Asia.” The forum brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss how to accelerate sustainable investment across the region.

Dr. Ma Jun, Chairman of CASI, highlighted both the opportunities and ESG-related challenges facing Chinese green technology companies as they expand into overseas markets - particularly in Southeast Asia and the Middle East. These firms are encountering complex legal frameworks, infrastructure limitations, and compliance risks. In this context, Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to act as a “compliance bridge”, connecting Mainland green enterprises with global markets through its strengths in finance, law, professional services, and ESG disclosure.

At the forum, Dr. Ma also identified four key barriers to transition finance in Asia: the lack of common standards, insufficient transition planning, limited access to reliable data, and a shortage of skilled professionals. He emphasized that the talent gap is the most pressing and long-term challenge, underscoring the need for sustained investment in human capital.

Asia continues to lead globally in renewable energy, accounting for 70% of new installations and 50% of global investment. Supporting this momentum, CASI has grown to over 70 member institutions and trained more than 6,500 professionals across 90+ jurisdictions - solidifying the region’s leadership in sustainable finance.
